Why take a photo here?
Because it’s the perfect mix of grandeur and geometry. Whether you’re standing in front of the glass pyramid, walking under the colonnades, or shooting through the arches of Cour Napoléon, the Louvre gives you endless ways to frame a photo that’s powerful, elegant, and instantly recognizable.

Best time to shoot:
Early morning or blue hour. At sunrise, the courtyard is nearly empty and the glass pyramid catches the light beautifully. At night, the pyramid glows, making it perfect for moody and dramatic shots.

Pro tip:
For a clean symmetrical shot, stand directly in line with the pyramid on the main axis of the courtyard. For a more artistic take, use the archways or reflective puddles (after rain) to add depth. Don’t forget the reverse view — looking out toward Rue de Rivoli through the Louvre arches.
