Montmartre Steps (Rue Foyatier)

Why take a photo here?
The Rue Foyatier staircase is one of Montmartre’s most iconic views. Stretching up toward Sacré-Cœur, the steps are framed by vintage lampposts, trees, and classic Parisian buildings. It’s a spot that captures both the charm and drama of Montmartre.

Best time to shoot:
Morning for peaceful, empty steps. Late afternoon for warm light and shadows creating depth.

Pro tip:
Shoot from the bottom looking up to capture the dramatic rise, or from halfway to frame the stairway with the lampposts. Lifestyle photos of walking up or down the steps also work beautifully.

*Bonus tip: * For another photogenic staircase, check Rue Chappe, just nearby. With the café La Halte at its base, it’s especially magical at dusk when the lights glow.
